Tim Griffin Bio.
Tim griffin was born in 1975 and began riding with his dad when he was 11. After watching the 1987 Tour de France on Chanel 4, he became a little obsessed with cycling, joined the Gemini and started racing in 1988.
Results include-
4th - National Schoolboy Pursuit Championship 1990
1st - National Junior Road Race Series (Then the ‘Peter Buckley trophy’) 1992
Member of -
GB Junior track team 1991/92
GB Junior road team 1993
- Achieved a few top 5 placings in GB colours at international track events during 1992.
- Sporadic racing in Belgium during 1992 and early 1993, with some top 5 placings (road/track), and a frustrating ride in the Junior Ghent Wevelgem 1993.
Other rides in GB colours include -
- Tour of Liecietershire 3 day. (Elite senior race the junior squad rode with BCF dispensation*) 1992.
- Manchester International 2 day (junior race) 1992.
- Oakdene 2 day (junior race) 1991.
Whilst he was a junior, and with *BCF dispensation, he was also lucky enough to get rides in decent elite senior road races like the ‘Folkestone Charing’ in 1992 and the ‘Tour of the Marshes’ Star trophy in 1993.
(*BCF Dispensation used to allow juniors on the GB team to ride in 1st cat/elite senior races/star trophy races.... not so sure it was such a good idea!).
Two knee operations stopped play in 1993.
Now Tim just rides for fun and does a bit of long distance touring when he can get bike shaped.
